I was hoping for asparagi, but so far there’s only one stalk.  We don’t usually see asparagus until later in April at Stoney Creek, but the weather’s been so warm, one plant  was inspired to send up one lone stalk.  I guess I’ll split it down the middle for dinner!

Judi and I have a friend with a substantial asparagus bed in northern Dauphin County, so we’ve made arrangements with her for asparagus for Cool Beans this year.  It’s a plant that doesn’t bear until it’s been established a few years, so there’s no rushing it.  Diane has a variety that does well into June, so even with this unusual warm weather we hope we’ll have some for you in one of the first CSA weeks.
