I still can’t believe how much we stuffed into your boxes this week! You have cauliflower and broccoli (look over them carefully, the downside of organic brassicas is that there are sometimes little travelers included. We soaked them in iced salt water, which should have removed hitchhikers, but you should still check.)
You have three lettuces. There will be a lettuce hiatus soon, because it inevitably gets bitter when we get a lot of heat and that’s certainly been the forecast lately. These varieties still tasted good, though.
You have shell peas (the kind you have to pop open.) That’s the end of the peas until fall. Always a sad day, but they’ll come back!
Flat leaf parsley this week, and a small bundle with basil, red basil (same use as regular) and mint. Dill by next week, I hope.
One kohlrabi for Thursday Beans, not sure there’s enough for Friday. Unfamiliar with it? Peel and slice into strips and eat raw.
More of those lovely beets and chard (how many of us made pickled beets and red beet eggs last week?)
Email us if you have a dog, because we’ll include a special treat for your pups with next week’s order. Judi’s daughter Sarah is selling all natural smoked beef bones to raise money for the Brown Swiss cow she wants to buy for a 4H project next year, when she will be old enough to participate. We’ll send a sample along so your dog can try one out!
Honestly, there might still be something else in those crates – I shouldn’t have relied on my memory from the time it took to walk to the computer from the packing area.
You are so right, our basket is overflowing with the most beautiful produce!Your produce and eggs are truely the freshest and most flavorful we have had!Thank you for all the work that goes into making this posible for those of us that are renting and not able to have a garden……………………You can tell you love what you do;) Also I wanted to tell you how amazing the fresh pretzel you included last week was,it did not last the evening.
we do have a dog and would love to try the treats.
Thanks again for all you do.
